LC Dept of Music announces “The Marriage of Figaro”

The Louisiana College Department of Music announces the production of “The Marriage of Figaro” by W.A. Mozart, opening this Thursday, November 1st at 7:30 p.m. in the Martin Performing Arts Center on the campus of Louisiana College. The performance will continue on Friday, November 2nd and Saturday, November 3rd both beginning at 7:30 p.m.

The cast members include: Thomas Robichaux as Count Almaviva, Sarah Dodson as Countess Almaviva, Marjorie McBride as Susanna the chambermaid, Cameron Weatherford as Figaro, Robyn Ellis as Cherubino the page, Sarah AuPied as Marcellina, Lewis Evans as Basilio, Joseph Cole as Don Curzio, Owen Brown as Bartolo, Ben Swain as Antonio and Chelsea Hill as Barbarina.

Tickets may be purchased at the door and ticket prices are as follows: $12 for adults, $6 for students and $1 for the LC students, faculty and staff.

LC Hosts JR. Level of 2nd Louisiana International Piano Competition

Pineville, LA. …Louisiana College will host the junior level of the Second Louisiana International Piano Competition on Saturday, October 13th from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. in Presser Recital Hall located in the Weathersby Fine Arts Building on the campus of Louisiana College.

The competition is open to the public and free of charge. 30 junior contestants, ages 11 – 18 will be coming from across the United States (Louisiana, Texas, Florida, South Carolina, Arizona, Tennessee, Oregon, Washington, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Illinois, Virginia, Michigan and Iowa) to compete. Two contestants will travel from China to participate.

The results of the competition will be announced immediately following the competition at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. The following day, Sunday, October 14th, the jury members of the competition will be offering master classes for selected junior level competitors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Weathersby Fine Arts Building. This event is free and open to the public.

Louisiana College is also sponsoring the Artist level (ages 18 – 35) of the Second Louisiana International Piano Competition by providing practice facilities at the Weathersby Fine Arts Building the entire week of the competition (October 8th – 13).
