Pineville, LA. … The Louisiana College Division of Nursing has announced an accelerated nursing program that will be the only one of its kind in the State of Louisiana. This new accelerated nursing program will allow second-degree students to obtain a Bachelor of Science (B.S.N.) in just over a year.
“The establishment of this program will allow individuals who already have a Bachelor’s Degree an alternative route to enter the nursing profession explained Dr. Kimberly Sharp, Dean of Nursing and Allied Health at Louisiana College. “This new program is a full-time, 16 month accelerated course of study that will require a large commitment on the part of students,” said Sharp.
The United States and the State of Louisiana are experiencing a nursing shortage. This program seeks to meet the acute needs of the healthcare profession locally and nationwide.
Louisiana College has long been known for excellence in its nursing preparation and its traditional undergraduate nursing program continues to grow. The accelerated degree opportunity is an innovative way to meet the needs of today’s changing workforce. Sharp continued, “Graduates of the accelerated B.S.N. program will bring maturity, work-place experience and a level of commitment that will be refreshing to prospective employers.”
Scholarships are available for qualified individuals. Applications received by April 24, 2009 will receive first priority for scholarship funds. The first class will begin in August 2009.
