Nurse-led Clinic to Open on LC Campus

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

Pineville, LA. … The Louisiana College School of Nursing, along with the Central Louisiana Chamber of Commerce will have a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Loving Care: Nurse-Led Clinic, LLC on Thursday, May 12th at 11 a.m. The clinic will be under the supervision of LC nursing faculty and nurse practitioners. The fully functioning clinic will be open to the general public and LC faculty and staff and their immediate family.

The LC School of Nursing and Allied Health Dean, Dr. Kimberly Sharp, explains, “This clinical setting will give nursing students hands-on experience and allow them to further apply their knowledge of patient assessment; patient care, communication skills, electronic records, and much more. The clinic will be both educational and charitable, not turning anyone away.”

The clinic is setting up a special co-payment arrangement for all LC faculty and staff patients who are part of LC’s Blue Cross Blue Shield health care plan.  For any one coming in from the community, all the usual forms of payment (including Insurance, Medicare and Medicaid) will soon be in place.  It is hoped that the clinic will target areas of particular need with the community.  A key project for the clinic will be to develop a program that addresses the problem of obesity in children.

The clinic is located in the nursing skills lab on the campus of LC and is scheduled to open on Monday, May 16, 2011.

For more information about the Loving Care: Nurse-Led Clinic call (318) 427-9229.
