Ribbon Cutting Ceremony set for Nursing Skills Facility

October 14th, 2009

Pineville, La. The Louisiana College School of Nursing and Allied Health announces a ribbon cutting for the new Nursing Skills Facility located on the campus of Louisiana College. The event will take place on Friday, October 16th at 10:30 a.m.

Dr. Kimberly Sharp, Dean of the LC School of Nursing and Allied Health explains, “We are very excited about this new building and the expansion of the nursing department. The new lab has expanded space for training including a 14-bed lab facility, space for skills practice, classroom space and an area for health assessments that we will use for on-campus health programs.”

In addition to the new building new technology is also part of the nursing skills lab. Including 10 multi-purpose patient care simulators and a “family” of high fidelity simulators that can be programmed with respiratory and cardiac trends, students can work with the mannequins to prepare for crisis situations. These simulators can be programmed to talk, give birth, and replicate most medical situations.

The community is invited to attend the ribbon cutting. College officials, LC nursing faculty and students will be available to give tours of the new facility and answer questions.
