LC Debate Team competes at LSUS Tournament

Pineville, LA…The Louisiana College Debate Team competed over the weekend at the LSU-Shreveport Tri-State Debate Competition where seven of fifteen LC competitors advanced to elimination rounds.   In the Novice division, senior, Courtney Hamilton, advanced to finalist and was awarded the Novice Debate Champion Award for the state of Louisiana. Travis Kliewer was a semi-finalist in the varsity division, and LC Debate Coach, Scot Loyd, finished as a quarter-finalist in the professional division. James Arnold, Ashley Dufrene, Jesus Carrillo, and Joseph Buzzetta each finished as quarter-finalist in their respective divisions. Additionally, Arnold, Hamilton and Loyd received speaker awards.  According to Loyd, “The tournament was a great beginning of what promises to be another award winning semester for the LC Debate Program.”
