Student Wins Award at Regional Phi Alpha Theta Conference

Pineville, LA. David Powell, a junior at Louisiana College, recently won an award for his paper, “Student Demonstrations of the 1960’s” at the regional Phi Alpha Theta conference that took place in Lafayette on Friday, March 26th.

 

David is a History major and Christian Studies minor from Baton Rouge. David won one of only four awards given at the conference. He worked on the paper as part of assignments in classes of Contemporary American History taught by Dr. Henry Robertson and Contemporary European History by Dr. Scott Culpepper last fall.

 

The Louisiana College chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the national history honor society was founded in 1921 and LC’s chapter began in 2007. David was inducted into the Louisiana College chapter in fall 2009. “This was the very first student presentation by an LC chapter member at the regional meeting. “David has set a very high standard for future students with his outstanding presentation.” said Dr. Henry Robertson. “We are extremely proud of David’s accomplishment. His quality research and attention to detail is the sort of excellence that we strive to encourage in our students,” explained, Dr. Scott Culpepper.
