Louisiana College to offer Master of Arts in Teaching

Pineville, LA.The Louisiana College Office of the President is proud to announce that the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and the Commission on Colleges have granted Louisiana College a level three academic standing. This allows an institution of higher education to confer graduate degrees.

The first program Louisiana College will offer is a Master of Arts in Teaching. This program will begin on July 7th with the course “Teaching with Significance.”  Anyone who has graduated from the Louisiana College Teacher Education Alternate Certification (TEACH) program or is currently enrolled in the TEACH program is eligible to enroll.

“This is a monumental day in the history of Louisiana College,” said Joe Aguillard, President of Louisiana College, “we will now be able to confer graduate degrees.” “We are beginning with the Master of Arts in teaching but, we will add other graduate degrees in the near future.”

As a level three school, Louisiana College will be able to add additional graduate programs as they are written. “We will be the only institution of higher education offering graduate programs in central Louisiana,” Aguillard explains.
