LC Music Students attend NATS conference
November 18th, 2010Juliana Handy -1st place winner at NATS Conference
Pineville, LA…Louisiana College music students recently competed at the annual (NATS) National Association of Teachers of Singing Regional Conference and Auditions held in Hammond on November 11-13. The LC students were among over 500 students that attended from the tri-state region. (LA, AR and MS) Louisiana College Artist in Residence, Mei-En Chou, accompanied all of the LC students on piano, and Dr. Loryn Frey, Professor of Music at LC, participated as a judge for divisions in which her students did not participate.
Winning First Place in the Junior Women division was Juliana Handy with “Song to the Moon,” sung in Czech, from the opera Rusalka by Antonin Dvorak.
Kameryn Lueng was a semi-finalist in the Senior Women division and was an on- stage participant in the Opera Workshop Master Class.
Benjamin Swain, was also a semi-finalist in the Senior Men division and an on -stage participant in the Opera Workshop Master Class.
John Simmons competed in the Junior Men division and was a semi-finalist.
Keri Beth Ellis competed in the Sophomore Women division and was a Semi-finalist.
