Winter Commencement Dec. 11

Pineville, LA.The Louisiana College Office of Academic Affairs announces Commencement Exercises on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 10 a.m. in Guinn Auditorium. During the ceremony, diplomas will be conferred on 141 students, including 17 students who will make history when they become the first graduates of the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program. The A.B.S.N. program is an accelerated course of study for students who already have an undergraduate degree who want to pursue a career in nursing. Ninety-two students will receive a Master of Arts in Teaching Degree (MAT). The MAT degree is the first master’s degree program at Louisiana College.

The guest speaker for graduation will be the Honorable Jeffrey P. Victory, Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court. In 1981, Justice Victory was elected to the first Judicial District court, and in 1990, he was elected to the Second Circuit Court of Appeal for a term beginning January 1, 1991. He served there until he was elected as an Associate Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court for a term beginning on January 1, 1995.

Justice Victory was a charter member of the Louisiana Sentencing Commission and has been a director of the Louisiana Judicial College for many years; he is currently serving as chairperson of the Board. He is a member of the National Lawyer Association and the American, Louisiana State and Shreveport Bar Associations.

Justice Victory is married to Dr. Nancy Clark Victory and has four children.
