Student Nurses Attend Convention

Pineville, LA Nursing students from Louisiana College recently attended the 54th Annual State Convention for the Louisiana Association of Student Nurses held on October 17-18 in Alexandria, LA.  The convention, sponsored by the state’s professional organization for student nurses, annually hosts focus sessions, business meetings and social activities, as well as vendors from various hospitals and companies.

This year, two members of the LC nursing faculty, Renee Shamblin and Debra Migues, spoke at the convention, and three students: seniors, Jill Goodling and Desi McGehee, and junior, Marshal Simmons, represented LC as delegates. Senior, Krystal Kendrick, served as alternate.

Three LC nursing students were elected to the 2008-2009 Executive Board for the Louisiana Association of Student Nurses: senior, Edna Reichman was elected treasurer; Jill Goodling was elected Region II Director; and Marshal Simmons was elected Parliamentarian.

In additional convention activity, senior nursing student, Sophie Odenwald, submitted the LC SNA community service projects for 2007-2008, and seniors, Olivia Vasquez and Lindsey Powell, submitted the LC SNA scrapbook, which won 1st place for creativity, 1st place for representation of LC’s SNA activities, and best overall scrapbook. The award included recognition and a $50 check.
