Pineville, LA. The Louisiana College Lady Wildcat Basketball team is once again taking part in the American Southwest Conference “Make a Change” conference challenge. The Student-Athletic Advisory Committees from all 15 American Southwest Conference member institutions are joining together in this challenge to collect loose “change” to raise funds for local charitable organizations. The competition officially began on January 26 and will run through February 7th.

Last year Louisiana College was the top-earning member with $3,323.81 going to the Cabrini Cancer Center and the Rapides Regional Cancer Center.

This year has special significance to the Lady Wildcats because Head Coach, Janice Joseph-Richard, recently realized her cancer had returned. “We are dedicating this year’s challenge earnings to cancer research,” explained LC Athletic Director Tim Whitman.

The community is invited to come out and support the Lady Wildcats in their upcoming games. “We will have opportunities for individuals to give their ‘loose change’ at the games,” said Whitman. “We want to raise more than we did last year and show our support of Coach Richard and the battle she is going through right now.”
